The Washington Statewide Office of Rural Health is a partnership of the State Department of Health, Western Washington Area Health Education Center, University of Washington School of Medicine, Washington State University, and the Area Health Education Center at WSU Spokane.

This partnership was created to establish a formal primary relationship among the organizations listed above for the purposes of disseminating information, consultation, and deliberation on matters pertinent to the goals of the Office of Rural Health, which include:

Establishing a clearinghouse to collect and disseminate information pertaining to rural health issues.

Providing leadership and advocacy for Washington rural perspectives.

Arranging opportunities for rural interests to participate in policy development and decision making.

Providing access, directly or indirectly, to state, federal and private technical and financial assistance.

Initiating actions that produce fair allocation of resources. Essential resources include qualified health care professionals, adequate and appropriate facilities, and other support.
