As reported by the Health Care Personnel Shortage Task Force in 2004 for Washington State: | ||||
|
"Despite these advances, employers reported over 8,000 job vacancies for health care practitioners and support personnel in 2004. In addition, the health care needs of Washington's aging population will continue to increase demand for health care personnel through 2020. The Task Force urges the Legislature, secondary and postsecondary educational institutions, local and sate health and workforce development organizations, and other partners to recognize that intensive work is still needed over the next several years to catch up with the increasing demand for health care personnel." |

The Washington AHECs provided technical assistance to all of the Health Skill Panels located within each of the twelve Workforce Development Councils in Washington. These Health Skill Panels developed local and regional strategies to overcome the personnel shortages that face the health care industry. The 2005-07 legislative budget eliminated funding for continuation of the Health Skill Panels. Contact information for Washington's Workforce Development Councils, including other healthcare personnel resources, can be found on our Links page. |
